International Badge Day was established in 1997 by the National Panhellenic Conference to set aside a day or an event for women everywhere to wear their sorority badges or letters in a celebration of sisterhood. This year’s theme is: “Wear Your Letters on Your Heart.” National and international sorority groups are also participating. “We enjoy getting together and celebrating our sisterhood in Panhellenic. The unique aspect of our group is that no matter what sorority you belong to, we see each other as Panhellenic sorority sisters and enjoy not only our friendship but the networking opportunities as well,” said Deene Souza, the Publicity Chairman for the chapter.
Tulare County Panhellenic provides scholarships to local women who are active in their collegiate chapters at various universities. Last year the local group provided over $5,000 in scholarship funds to young women from Tulare County. The group is also involved in supporting the local battered women’s shelter through the donation of travel size toiletries.
